FTP Server Changes

Mon Sep 21, 2009 4:36 pm

We have made some important changes to the FTP server that concern you as a customer. We are now blocking IP Address Ranges. We are blocking all IP Ranges and then excluding only the IP Address Ranges of the customers that have hosting accounts. These IP Ranges will be for your ISP (Internet Service Provider) so it shouldn't matter if you have a dynamic (always changing) IP Address. However, It may be advisable for you to check your FTP account by going to: ftp.diminar.com and logging in. If you get a timeout error or connection refused message then your IP address will need to be allowed in our excluded list. However, some customers use the same ISP, for example, AOL, so if one customer has reported there IP Address to us then AOL's IP Range has been allowed already, which means if you use AOL you will automatically be allowed as well.

Report any problems you may have to support@diminar.com, giving us your Customer ID and what ISP you use and we will speedily add your IP to the list.

So, what is the benefit in this and why are we doing it? Well, many of you know that SPAM is getting worse and with such more attacks to the servers from many of those same IP Addresses that send out the bulk emails. They constantly try logging in with credentials that don't exist or try compromising accounts that exist already. They are mostly BOTS that try to find a weak username / password combination. This is nothing to worry about as for as security goes, however, all this traffic can slow down our network, so we are trying to prevent many things at one time, security and traffic control.

Thank you for your time!

Hot Checks From Customers

Thu Sep 17, 2009 9:56 pm

Dear ALL Customers,

We have recently been experiencing some problems wth customers who pay with checks. Checks can be more convienant than cash and is safer. However, when used incorrectly, it costs customers money. Checks aren't credit cards. Customers have been writing checks for accounts with insufficient funds. This is called HOT CHECKS. They are illegal and are a form of fraud. We find that customers issue us checks thinking they have enough time to place funds in the bank. We cash the checks ASAP. So therefore, more than likely, you will not have enough time to put the money in the bank.

We appreciate all of your business. But, we can not allow these actions. If you pay us with a check, we expect the money to be available that instant. If it is not, please do not write us a check. We know that some of you may have been extremely upset saying things like, "But I was gonna put the money in the bank tomorrow! You didn't have to act this way and go to the DA's office!" Yes, we do have to "act this way" or everyone would obviously think it is okay to write us bad checks. You can't expect us to not take action. We are extremely busy and have many customers to service. We don't have time to be making exceptions for everyone's checks by allowing them to write them and send them to us and then telling us to cash them on certain days.

So, if you do not want overdraft fees, your bank calling, humiliation, and lots of fees and fines, think twice before writing us a hot check. We will only accept checks in person during the hours of 10 A. M. and 2 P.M. If you are outside this time frame, then feel free to pay with cash, money order, or credit card.

Thank you for your time and understanding

Latest News:

We’ve just redesigned our website so if you’re looking for something and you don’t see it listed yet, give us a week or two to remap all of our previous links and please contact us if you notice any broken links or anything you may think is out of date. Thanks to all our customers for helping us grow!

Tips and Tricks:

Okay. So you’ve done everything you’ve read in the first three newsletters, but your system is STILL slow. Have you ever thought that maybe you’re low on RAM? With new programs for consumers to buy every day, you’re bound to get low on computer resources! If you have programs, games, drivers, printers, scanners, and more, that takes up a LOT of your RAM! Depending on your system specs, RAM is usually affordable. The older your system is, the more expensive your RAM will be. A good way to see how much RAM you have is to do the following: Click “Start” at the bottom left (on a Windows system), then right-click “My Computer” and select “Properties.” Underneath the “General” tab, you’ll see “System” “Registered to” and “Computer.” Below “Computer” it should list your CPU clock speed and your system RAM. If you have LESS THAN 256 MB of RAM, then you will most likely need an upgrade as most systems today come standard with 1 GB or more. If you’re already a customer and are confused as to how to do that, just call us with your customer ID and DR number and we’ll give you all the information you need!

Latest News:

We’re sorry about the extreme downtime for this month. We were trying something new to help our customers and it didn’t go as planned. We’re back up as we were earlier this month and don’t plan on making any more serious changes for quite some time. Thanks for being patient with us during this time!

Tips and Tricks:

Internet Explorer…We all use it. It comes standard on any Windows system. If your IE is getting a little slow loading up bookmarks or history, then perhaps it’s time to clean out that huge cache. Don’t know how to do it? I’ll take you through it. First, open up your IE browser. Click “Tools” at the top left and then “Internet Options” at the bottom of the tab. Underneath the “General” tab, you’ll see a section called “Browsing History.” Check the box saying “Delete browsing history on exit” if you want your history cleaned out, too. Click “Delete” and check all boxes of your choice and then click “Delete” again. Once it’s completed, click “Apply” at the bottom right of the tab and then “OK” in the bottom middle of the tab. There you go! IE should run a little better now!
